Two of my good friends carry a Judge at the hunting camp. They are dependable and good pistols. They carry them with a mixed load. .410 and 45. The reason is they use the .410 when we run into rattlesnakes while hunting and also the 45 should they get a close shot at a pig or run into one that has a bad disposition!!! The Judges are good pistols but somewhat heavy.
I would say to go look and feel one before you buy one.

Using Hornady LEVEReolution 45 225 grain in the Judge
I have a question about the Judge and ammo.
I have been using the .410 2 1/2 inch shotgun shells in the Judge I bought some 45LC, which I bought Hornady LEVEReolution 45 Caliber 225 grain so is this, what the rest of you would you use in a Taurus Judge.

I have one of these that I use as my nightstand gun. I love it! The only issue I have had is that the night sights worked loose from the recoil, but it was an easy fix. I load it with 2 1/2 in .410 shells and with .45 LC. I alternate it with .410 buck shot and .45 rounds. The buck shot is a tight squeeze and it needs to be forced in a little bit, but it fires great.
I have the Taurus judge, it uses the big boy .454 rounds which will knock just about anything on its butt. And of choose the .45 long colt rounds, along with the .410 shotgun shells. I'm very partial to the Raging Bull series. The pistols have allot of weight to them and are ported. If your looking for a dependable firearm I couldn't recommend anything else.
