have a model 302 sterling 22. i had pulled the safety lever all the way out in the process of field striping to clean and cant get it to go back in. it came out easy so is there a easy way to put it back in without tearing the trigger out to get by the post it rides on????

You might check out an earlier thread of mine called "Sterling Auto .25 problem" 1/23/12. The .25 is almost identical to the .22 version. I got mine back together but then it kept jamming so it was basically a single shot...soooo I got rid of it.

We ended up getting the safety back in. We had to push the rod DOWN and slide in the Safety. I also had problems with it jamming and therefore also took it back to the original owner. I am currently looking for another handgun!
