Go with the Sig, if you really like it. Your first gun should be something

special.

I once rented a S&W 9mm Auto which was

just not a good looking gun, IMO.

I didn't shoot it well, because I wasn't that interested in

the gun.

Glocks are nothing...

...special.

Lost my virginity to a whore while I was in the Navy. Ouch.

Hey! * * I * * didn't call Glocks whores.

You didn't hear that whole "Glocks are whores!" thing from me.

I'd NEVER call a Glock a whore.

LOL! Not calling Glocks "whores"; i have one of their Croatian cousins, XD45. Of course, everybody does seem to like my XD45 and wants to take it for a spin if we go plinking; perhaps my XD is a brass-guzzling, lead-spewing "slut" though.

The theory holds, though; your first should be something special not "the special of the day" or something utterly practical and lacking in appeal to YOU the buyer. (not to say there aren't some pretty special whores out there too )

So, you're NOT calling Glocks whores?

I mean, I didn't call Glocks whores.

I'm serious, I'm pretty sure I probably wouldn't call

a Glock a whore. I don't think...

See I look at it a bit differently. I don't want to get a great gun that I can't shoot. I want my skill to match the level of the weapon. That's why I practice with the "whore" until I'm good, then I unleash my creamy goodness on "my new love". Now the skill matches the weapon or at least makes it worth the price.

$ gun + no skill = "Maybe you'd be better at bowling..."
$$$$ gun + no skill = "Perhaps you should spend some $ on lessons..."
$ gun + skill = "How does he shoot like that with that gun? He must be good."
$$$$ gun + skill = "I want to be like THAT guy!"

Despite the fact the the Glock is lighter, simpler, single action only and most importantly half the price I cannot help but feel like I am not getting what I want. I want my first handgun to be a purchase that makes me feel like a little kid on Christmas, not, the practical logical robotic decision. I know they are the best choice for civilians and home defense, in fact the only reason I don't like the Glock is cosmetic, I think they are ugly as **** I actually (and honestly) shoot them better than the Sig even, and therein lies my problem. I am sort of considering the fnp9, since they are similar to the Sigs, but again, if I'm gonna buy a $450 gun. it might as well be a Glock right?. If someone could lend a few words I would really appreciate it. Thanks

In my opinion I would go with what you like and what feels good in your hand. I have both the Glock 19 and the Sig P229. I carried the Sig untill I purchased my XD45. I gave my wife the Glock because I did not like it and she uses the 19 at work. If you purchase something and do not like it you are not going to carry it.

Why would buy something you don't like?
