They'll usually give you a sidearm. And now that Obama's Militarizing police they'll probably end up giving you another 30,000 worth of equipment later on depending on where you are then ask you to be a federal officer(Under the DHS look it up) as they get rid of the position entirely (Which is why pensions have been disappearing). My father was an officer who became a federal agent of various agencies later on and my brother is joining a police force after leaving the Army Spec For's. Iv asked them the same question and the general answer is "Whatever you preform the absolute best with". It's a pretty simple answer but some people try and get the flashiest or the biggest bang for the buck and get out preformed by others at the range which can hurt you in the long run.

so you give a recommendation for a pistol you have neither owned or shot?

what are you basing this recommendation on?

please elaborate and explain how you can recommend something you have no personal knowledge or experiance with.

I recommend someone fall in love with my wife, so she will leave me, and I have no personal experience with her (not for years) lol

I will even throw in a wedding cermony and open bar reception. Guests and especially the groom, will need that little perk.

If you read his post the op mentioned he likes the sig sauer p220, the sig p220 holds only 8 rounds but sig sauers new p227 holds 12-14 rounds (depending on mags) of 45 acp so this is why i recommended it so he can look at it himself maybe he didn't know sig sauer makes 12 round 45 acps maybe he already has and he dosent like it? Its just a recommendation silly! :P thats my elaboration and explainin thank you

i'll point out the rather obvious for you. he hasn't gotten the job yet. many and most LE agencies either have certain criteria and requirements when it comes down to the pistol carried on duty, or will issue him the pistol they want him to carry. so suggesting something without know the agency he might go to work for, is well putting the cart before the horse.

Also, he can full-well buy a gun without it ending up as his duty gun, as we all know. So maybe HQ's recommendation is for a good gun in general. Not necessarily a duty gun.

Geeze. Sure seems tense sometimes, unnecessarily.
