I have shot both the Mossberg 500 and the Remington 870, but prefer the Mossberg because of the safety selector location. It's more user friendly than the cross bolt IMHO.

With regard to the OP, I would love to get my hands on a Para Black Ops 14.45.

The Mossberg 500 was my first shotgun. It's sturdy, works well, fun to shoot, easily customizeable and after 15 years still looks and works like the day I bought it. As your needs or tastes change you will be able to make that gun exactly what you want. I"ve shot clays with mine, then converted it to a SD shotgun with a 18" barrel and pistol grip, then back again to shoot clays. You will be happy with that gun.

It was a 1911 but last week I made the leap and bought a Dan Wesson PM7.

So next (which will be awhile ) will be a wheel gun, lever action or a Glock 21.

Not decided on brands or calibers for the wheel gun or lever action.

I took a look at the Kel-tec KSG this weekend while in the Tampa area. Pretty cool to see one in the wild. Bit of sticker shock but I still want it.
