I believe the reason the third test is still classified is because it was done largely to determine how to improve body armor.
For the smartasses, doing autopsys of cadeavors shot with various caiburs in various states of dress under controlled conditions is the best way to determine wound channels, etc.
Heavier bullets tend to cause bones to shatter while lighter bullets tend to deflect off bone. A heavy bullet hitting a rib will exploe the rib throwing bone shrapnell into to wound channel exacerbating bleeding.
One of the other things that came out of the second test is that hollow points are basically useless. More than half the time the hole jsut fill up with clothing causing a falure to expand. The other 40% of the time the bullets expand perfectly slowing the bullet and elliminating its penetration.
This is one of the reasons, police officers now have to shoot people 47 times to get a kill, they all load HPs.
I know having said that all you nubs who carry HPs will say I'm a douche, but the science is in HPs are pretty lame if you carry a gun for self defence. Penetration is what causes the kill.

As I expected the first response completly missed the point.
Incidently, I personally know some one who was shot in the bicep with .25 acp, he had a nasty chunk missing from his bicep, he told me it got infected so they had to cut a lot of the meat out. He also told me in the same shooting, another person was shot in the forhead and the bullet failed to penetrate the forhead. He said the dude shot in the head left the hospital that day with a patch on his head.
That's one more reason to NOT hang out in biker bars.

I have to submit that while it's generally agreed a .45ACP is great
at putting a man down, the Germans made the pistol a viable and
efficient weapon, with the advent of the 9mm(9X19mm) round...

A .380 may make the bad guy dead but a 9mm or .45 will surely make the bad guy deader.
