My point is... its not the size in ammunition that needs trusting, its the quality of the gun and the confidence in your skills to make the right shot placement.

Just my five cents.

Well I was at this bar one time a guy had this dinky little 25. It fell out of his pocket and it went off. Just one shot mind you. The bullet went through this other guy, and then his wife, it hit a hockey mask on the wall. It ricochet and broke two whiskey bottles and killed the bartender. The other two lived..........................................wel l I wasn't there but I heard it happened ...............................................jus t kidding it hit the floor and went off the bullet shot straight up two feet and fell to the ground........................again I'm lying............... The truth is I ain't wanting to get shot with one.

I carry 22LR around my yard when I'm in the copperhead zone. All other times, I carry, .38, .357, .380, .40, and 9mm. I practice regular from the draw and hit my targets effectively. Whenever I am carrying one of those calibers, it is the smallest I have at the time and I trust all of them. More people are killed by .22 than any other caliber BTW.

Congrats. Perfect gun to start with. Look at it this way; nobody's gonna volunteer to stand in front of your 22 & let you pull the trigger. What model did you buy?

You might consider starting out with a Ruger SR22. Cheaper than a Glock with plenty of safety features. Not to mention cheap ammo. I am training my son on this model tonight before he starts playing with the .40 cal Glock he just purchased.
