Sig 229 E2 worth it?
Hey new to this forum....I just got rid of 2 of my Glocks and am looking at getting the new Sig 229 E2...Ive been reading how Sig has slowly gone down the tubes..I was curious if anyone has this model and if its worth getting?

I have a number of Sigs that range from mid-90s German guns to a late model railed 226 and they all function well. I've read about quality issues in late model guns also - I just haven't experienced any bad things myself. I don't have an E2 but if I was in the market for one I wouldn't fear buying one due to internet chatter.

Now as for price - I think new Sigs are to expensive. All of mine were bought used at reasonable prices...

I have a number of older Sigs (228, 239, 220, 245) and have always been happy with their performance. I think Sig has lost its way with the new offerings which seem to be mostly fancy looking, expensive railed pistols. I have always preferred the basic, reliable non-railed models. So in my mind I would save the hundreds of extra dollars Sig is now charging and get a better priced pistol and use the extra for ammo.

best wishes- oldandslow

I?d go for the EČ just because of the grips on it.

I love the EČ grips.

I have one of the older 226's & 229's.I have shot several others and have mixed feelings. But for me I tend to look for less frill and more work out of weapon that I'm going to carry around with me. Being you're looking at a 229 I"m figuring it's not a range toy but something you want to use. If it was me I"d look at the plain Jane 229 or theSAS Gen2. They have a great track record and I just don't see enough from the "improved ergonomics" of the E2 to make me want to drop my money on it.

I have a Sig 229 in 357 sig and love it. You will too, believe me. And the quality can"t be beat. Don't feal bad about getting rid of your Glocks. I had three but am down to one now. Having said that, the Glocks are the primary duty weapon for most Law Enforcement. Enjoy your Sig and shoot it often. Dogwalk

I think the negative attitude towards Sig Sauer is overexaggerated.

Would Sig Sauer continue to get large contracts if their products were as defective as internet fodder and gossipers make them out to be?

I think Sig Sauer (both USA and Europe) is very progressive and has met the call of demand many times.

- Many Sig Sauer purists would have us all believe that nothing can beat a pre-1996 stamped and folded carbon steel slide P226. But then those ones kept rusting when the U.S. military, especially the Navy, procured them and put them to the test. Moreover, were they not incapable of enduring the more powerful .40 S&W? That's why Sig Sauer answered the call and went to milled stainless steel slides isn't it?

- People complained that Sig Sauer P226 grips were "too big" so they went towards the popular modular grip design in the E2 (which feels wonderful). Then the purists, once again, complain about change.

- People complain that Sig Sauer produces too many variations of the P226. So what? How is it different from many other manufacturers? Aren't options a good thing?

It's hard to get rid of internet gossip and fodder especially in the "set in their ways" gun nut world. People still complain about how they would never consider a Beretta due to its slide problems which were fixed over 20 years ago!

Rant over -- Sigs are nice!
