Semi-Auto Target .22's
Anyone have any suggestions for a good semi automatic .22 target pistol?

Any Ruger .22 (the 22/45 has controls in the 1911 mold), CZ75 Kadet (more accurate than you need, but exactly duplicates the full-size CZ75), Smith 7 Wesson has (or had) a line of .22s, the Browning Buckmark still has some followers, as the Colt Woodsman. I have tried to list these in order that you might run into them in any gun shop.

.22 pistols
In my opinion,it's impossible to beat the ruger target pistols. Some guns may have better trigger pull out of box but I think that any gun needs to be optimized to the best of it's capability and there's truckloads of aftermarket parts and upgrades available for them. If you want to spend big bucks,a S&W model 41 will cure your itch.

I think that Ruger is by far the best bang for your buck today.

How serious is your 'target' shooting going to be?
Are you talking casual or competition?
Also, are you a novice or an experienced pistol shot?
And, finally, what's your pain threshold [budget]?:D

We debated this on another thread. Unless you are already a seasoned competition shooter, I advise you to shoot a Ruger until you are. Best bang for the buck.

However, if you can find a HS Victor in good shape (from Hartford CT) buy it. You'll have to spend over $1K to match its performance. One member compared accuracy to speed in racing, performance cost $$$. In general, I think he was right. It's sad but true, you can spend twice as much but you will not get 2X the performance.

Hi-Standard Supermatic Trophy, or Victor.
You get what you pay for.
These two are both Hartford's, off a rest they will both shoot groups
about the size of my little finger nail.
Comparing them to a Ruger is like comparing a VW bug to a Z06 Vette.

I have a Ruger Mark ll and love it...All stainless 6in bull with a aimpoint and a ton of fun to shoot...And I know It's not a pistol but just as a point of you don't have to spend a lot to get a lot...The S@W MP15-.22 Is a whole lot of riffle for just under $500

Zombie thread/ Question was asked 4.5 years ago. While the recent additions were good info, the OP is not around to use it.

All that post without reading the date, please go get the thread a birthday card. :)
