Hey guys I'm pretty new to the gun hobby and just bought a s&w 40 cal. sigma and it seems as if it has a lot of trigger travel,,I have to pull the trigger back a long way b 4 it fires compaired to my s&w 22 cal. or my 9mm hi point.
Was just wondering if theres anything I can do to correct this problem ???
Sorry. That is normal. I am not aware of any mods available. Many of us have gotten used to it. There is a love-hate mentality with the Sigma. Either you love it or you hate it. I love mine. But, I think I am a minority.
Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile.
I used to own a 40VE. You can't change the travel but many like myself changed the striker spring with a Wolff spring. It can take it down a little bit. I have heard of problems with this but I never had any myself. Thousands of rounds after the change. I eventually sold it to a friend that still shoots it weekly and has yet to have any issue whatsoever. Dang good pistol for the money.
This may sound overly simple but it's the absolute truth. When I'm debating whether to get a particular gun (that I have not had before) I Google it. Within 10 minutes I have a good feel for the common issues and comments about said gun. If you Google a Sigma you will learn very fast that they are decent reliable guns with a long, crunchy trigger pull and low resale value.
As another poster has said, there are home modifications that can be done to lighten and smooth out the trigger pull somewhat. Google "Sigma trigger" and you'll see them quickly and you can decide if you want to go down that road. I modified both of them that I had and they got better but not great...
