Default On the rimfire pistol kick.

How come there are no double stack 22lr pistols? That would be nice to have a 20 or 30 round 22lr for plinking at the range.

I wonder if Kel-tec will make their new .22WMR pistol in .22LR? That would be cool but probably expensive as heck for a .22.

I wondered the same on the double stack when i was checking out my CZ75b after earlier seeing my ooold AMT .22.

edit* There is that other version of the Ruger 10-22, the Charger, kind of a pistol.

I'd suspect it is a mechanical challenge due to the small diameter with a large rim. I know there is a fella on the Sig forum that makes mag conversion kits so the Sig .22 conversion mags can hold 15 rounds. Haven't tried them myself but I may give it a go...

Doesn't Ciener make hi cap conversion kits for double stack pistols? Or am I high?

I would say that it would be an engineering problem to make such a magazine feed reliably… just envision how the rounds would stack up in the magazine....doomed to failure unless somebody comes up with an intelligent solution. So as I see it, the only current way is the conventional way; to expand the capacity vertically. But if it has been done, I sure would like to see it....

If the rimfire did not have a rim, then it would be a double stack viable. the rims on the cartridges make it kinda hard to get the little suckers to index reliably.

I just checked the Ciener site, and they show Browning Hi Power kits with 14rd mags. Not sure if they are staggered, though.

Yeah didn't think about that.

Maybe along with my oven that is a fridge I can invent a rimless rimfire cartridge.

Yeah seems the right way to do it, I am just wondering if the fact that the casing of a .22LR is almost 1/2 the size of the .22WMR could bring some new problems to the reliabiliy of the feeding.

Anyway talk about gun porn..... 3 mags in the stock plus the one inserted in the gun... 120+1 ....!!??
