Default The right safe for me ....

Hey everyone,

I need to buy a safe now for my gun(s). This is my Situation. I have a M&P 9c. In the next month or two I will get the M&P 22. So I would need a safe for two guns. But I don't want to go all out on a safe because in this year or 9 months I'm looking at one of the Following. Gsg MP5 22 or the M&P 15-22. But that
Could change. What do you guys have? What do you guys think would be a good safe for me?

What ever you end up buying make sure it is 2-3x bigger than you need. My collection has tripled in the last two years and had to replace my safe after 11 months. Always go bigger and make sure to keep room for rifles. What is your budget?

I am no expert but here is some general guidance I would provide.

1. If you are planning on expanding your collection then get a safe that is as big as you can for the space you have allocated.

2. I would not spend a fortune on a safe with complex locking mechanisms because the truth is they can all be defeated by a good thief. At best your safe will prevent casual access by a child or adult that you do not want to get to your guns, it may prevent an amateur thief, but it will not prevent a determined professional thief regardless of how much you spend on one.

3. Make sure your safe can be attached to the wall or floor, or is impossibly heavy to move. Some thieves remove the entire safe and open it elsewhere, if you can make that difficult for them they may not even bother with it.

I am looking to get a safe but I am trying to come up with a plan to hide it somewhere. I figure if the thief does not even see it they wont try to break into it. I have seen people turn old fridges into gun safes etc and the thieves have walked right by them without even realizing it was a safe. Just having a hard time finding somewhere in my house that will work.

Believe me,
If you are thinking a safe for only 2-4 guns, believe me when I tell you.....buy a 24 gun safe, minimum.

You will fill it sooner than you think ,and will be looking for another one.

Just saying.

Exactly, and room for ammo too, I only have 9 guns currently, I keep building and selling, but I have a 48 gun safe and fill it up. It's almost 600lbs dry and 900lbs filled, anchored with 4 bolts.

Keep in mind all safes capacities are realistically half of what they say unless your just putting in hand guns or stacking them on top of each other , which I do not suggest or they start to multiply like rabbits . For instance my 28 gun safe holds about 18 guns and its packed pretty tight and some of that is pistols . I should have bought a 60 gun instead of having to buy another 24 gun . Both of which are now full and I have zero room for another gun

Yep, it's filling up fast!

Like previously stated, get one way bigger than you think you'll ever need. You'll be surprised what ends up in it, important documents / paper, jewelry, irreplaceable photo's, etc.

If you start getting into guns like AK's , ARs , scoped rifles , etc they take up large amounts of space . you put optics on them and they take even more space . If I were in your situation and you know you wont be buyingin any more than 1-2 guns per year a 24 gun should last you about 7-9 years before its over loaded . Keep in mind safes hold their value pretty well , so if you need to upgrade later you wont lose any $$$ . I could get every penny I have into mine back if I wanted to upgrade to a larger safe .
