Oh yeaaaaaaa........here comes cane!

Hands down, a 1911 Light Weight Commander (preferably a Colt model O4860XSE) chambered in 45 ACP with a trio of Tripp Research 8R-45-RG Cobra Mags loaded with Hornaday 45 ACP+P 230 GR TAP-FPD!

You'll love it and the BGs will avoid you just because of the Jokeresk smile on your face!

Get her dirty, then clean her so she starts to respect you. When her trust is complete, she will serve you well for a lifetime!

The 1911's are the cream of the crop but if your thinking polly frame check out the S&W M&P 45 or the FNP-40. Both are good pistols in the $500-$600 range.

I am no expert by any stretch!! A month ago I would have leaned twards a plastic gun like the glock, xdm or a m&p but I have since got a couple of kimbers and my eyes have been opened to the 1911 family and I don't think i'll be looking back

JD, this is just gettin' easier every day! All they need to do is get one in their hands and presto, the JMB magic gets them!

WELCOME to the TRUE autoloader fraternity!

Hate to disagree with the likes of Cane, but for serious social work I'd rather have my .357 any day. It goes bang EVERY time and I can hit a walnut with it at 30 yds. Try that with your Colt or Kimber. By the way, I heart my Kimber. Just will never trust it as much as my Security Six. "How do you spell security? RUGER."

Colt Glock yadi yada ya

Get a CZ99 [You can have it in 9mm Luger or .40 S&W], its a excellent pistol and many people are fond of it

If you can, get the better version of it [CZ999]. Its much more better and it has the 'Ammunition is low' indicator, which tells you when you only have 3 rounds left [But it doesnt use the .40, just the 9mm Luger and 9mm Parabelum].

I agree with the cZ75 and a Kadet Kit. A good reliable pistol in 9mm that can quickly be converted to .22lr for plinking or training.
