Default Recoil help....

Hi guys and gals I'm in need of some help. I've been doing countless hours of research on carry pistols for my wife. She is new to shooting and I'm trying to find the best handgun for her. I'm fairly certain that I have it down to the sig p232 and the hk p2000sk. I know they are different calibers (.380 and 9mm respectively), however I feel, and have heard/read, that they are the best of the best. my question is what do you think the recoil differences are between the two? If the hk is the same or better I'd like to get that one bc of the little bit better reliability and caliber. Also, my wife is 5'4" 135lbs so I'm assuming she would be able to IWB these comfortably in the first place (are these guns thick?) thanks for the much needed help.

is there any chance of having your wife try either one of those out at a range?

Unfortunately, I haven't seen these available for rent yet. The closest thing we rented was the bersa thunder .380, but I heard that you can't even compare the recoil of that to the sig p232 similarly (bc the sig's was better?)

that's too bad ... I tried out about a dozen models before settling on the handgun I wanted. Fit and comfort, function and ease of maintenance were the determining factors for me ...

so I chose a Beretta Px4 Storm in 45ACP

Check her grip. Have the barrel in line with the forearm. Most have the barrel pointed to the outside of their dominant hand.
That will put the felt recoil on the thumb.

Grip the handgun as high as possible. The difference of 1/4" grip height will allow the barrel to flip or not flip up.

Most new shooters do not use their bodies to absorb recoil. They lean back at the waist and allow the spine to absorb recoil. Lean forward and let the handgun push back.

It isnt because the sig is better in general. Sig is a good brand but I feel bersa is often overlooked as a quality gun. Weight has allot to do with recoil, the heavier the gun the lighter the recoil. Often times self defense guns aren't too fun to shoot because they are small and light. Most buy a larger size pistol for range shooting.

Make sure you find a gun that fits her hands well.

will double check the leaning... As far as the grip it's perfect (recently took a cwp class with me and properly taught). Mainly just trying to see if the 9mm p2000sk has the same or better recoil (bc of the tilt barrel and dual spring) than the p232. I'm impressed with the hk reliabilty

You mentioned IWB as a possible way she would carry.
I suggest that with your firearm research, that you also look at holsters, extra mags, and mag carriers.

With so many firearms there is still the chance that the holster area has not kept up. Some models may not have an IWB holster.
