Default Real or replica?

My brother gave me this the other day, a 1911a1, there is no serial # on the frame, on the slide is SM m1911A1-67 Autoloading Pistol, Army Model, Caliber .45. On the other side of the slide is SM and then MGC in a logo type stamp. The barrel is either plugged or whatever, on the bottom of the main spring housing is stamped Japan. Is this a decommisioned gun or a replica? I have no other info about it. Here are some pics. Thanks.

Looks like it might be one of the replicas that fired the brass "blanks" with the caps inside.

MGC appears to stand for "Model Gun Corporation" (or maybe Company)

Japan, founded 1959, not sure if they are still in business. There appears
to be some collector interest, especially on the early ones. Die cast
replicas. Used to see full page ads for something like these in magazines
and even comic books in the 60's.

ETA: There are half a dozen of them, various models, on Ebay.

Disappointing, I'm guessing there's no way to just swap parts n' pieces to make it a functional firearm? I know you were really looking to get a 1911.

Paladin- that way lies death, destruction, and disaster- or a least a trip to your local emergency room to have pieces parts of your Frankengun removed from valued parts of your anatomy. Bad ju-ju. REALLY bad ju-ju.

+1,000 on this fine advice.

A replica is just that not intended for live rounds Ever
