There are very few examples where I possess enough skill to demonstrate that one round is superior to the next...especially when you're talking handguns. I'd imagine that's the case for most folks. I've got a wide variety of ammo on my shelves for a reason. As long as it's brass cased, I'll shoot it until proven wrong.
Rifle rounds like (308win) 147gr NATO vs 168gr Match are an entirely different monster, of course. You're potentially tripling your group size.
In some cases I think there's a real advantage to some of the Critical Defense, Pow'rBall, & Fed EMFMJ type stuff because they feed pretty much like ball. I used to carry a PF9 (good gun, but kinda cheap), and preferred the peace of mind that accompanied that Hornady Critical Defense rubber-filled JHP.
