Default Purchasing a handgun in MN

Im 15 and obviously cant buy a gun by my self but i shoot all the time, im in trap at my high school with a 23 average. So i very much so enjoy the shooting sport. I shoot rifles and shotguns but never a handgun so id like to get into shooting handguns. Im the only one who shoots in my family so id like to know what my parents would have to do to buy a handgun. Thanks in advance!

Mom or dad can't be felons. Go to the local police department and have them get a "permit to purchase" It's free and valid for one year.

Under FEDERAL law, which applies in all states- you must be 21 years of age, not have been convicted of a felony or crime of domestic violence, or under indictment for same. You cannot have been adjudged mentally incompetent, be an illegal alien, drug addict, have renounced your citizenship or been dishonorably discharged from the US military. Purchase must be made from a dealer in your home state (or transferred through one).

STATE law- in addition, there is option 1 or option 2. See link:
What we have here is... failure- to communicate.
