Okay. Thanks for that info. That's what I've been told before.

I mean I've read on here that some people carry the two types of rounds staggered in ONE magazine. I'm sure they probably do the same for their backup magazine.

I'm sure there are also others who carry a full magazine of FMJs and a full one of HPs. I think I also read of one guy who puts just the round that's in the chamber as FMJ, and the rest are HPs.

People are odd. If I carried a .380, which honestly I wouldn't, I would only carry FMJs.

I'll see if I can find the thread that talks about all this.

Here's the specific thread I was talking about. You've probably already seen it:

Here's another interesting thread, not really related to HPs vs FMJs, but interesting none-the-less:

A Kahr PM 9 would work just fine. Light weight excellent sights very reliable. Very accurate. I have qualified as a Pa. State Constable with mine . We must fire from 25 yards not a problem hitting at that distance.

Another vote for the P238. I carry with HPs. Penetrate or not, I figure a chunk of metal flattening out against your chest is going to hurt like hell.

You can get 7 round mags for the Sig P238. I have 3 of them. I had a P3AT and an LCP. The key word is had as they are not pleasant to shoot. The 238 is a pleasure to shoot and is accurate. Most of the 380 HP rounds expand too quickly and penetration suffers while the fmj's will over penetrate. I have found the XTP to be be the best compromise with tests showing 12" - 14" in gel and 4 layers of denim. The Sig P938 is a little bigger and heavier but is 9mm.
By the way, it is not a good idea to carry anything other than a handkerchief in your back pocket. Even a wallet will over time cause nerve damage if you sit a lot. Long distance driving will be a lot more comfortable with your back pockets empty.

I dunno if any one has mentioned the lc9 but I have one and its able to be concealed in the pocket and is fairly affordable. I don't pocket carry though just a method that doesnt work for me but it is one heck of a pistol.
