Pistol Indentification Request
I have the option to purchase this pistol from a friend that knows very little about the pistol aside from the fact that it's a .45 cal. I would like to know if anyone here can identify what type of pistol it is, and how much it typically sells for in it's current conditon. Thanks for the help.

That is a Kongsberg Colt Model 1914. These were made in Norway at the Kongsberg Armory. Couple of identifying points- each part has a serial number. The slide release has a little dogleg to it. Caliber marking is metric (still 45 ACP)

An ORIGINAL 1914 is in the the $3,000-$5,000 range. The upper end is for a very few that have the Nazi Waffenampt marking, after the Nazis took Norway.

However, yours APPEARS to have been refinished in nickel plate. Originals were, to the best of my knowledge, parkerized or blued. Grips and grip screws have been changed. Original magazine had a lanyard loop on the mag as well as one on the pistol.

Changes tear the hell out of collectors value, so POSSIBLY 1/3 to 1/4 of the high end collector's value. But they are scarce enough that you will REALLY need a hands on appraisal from someone that knows these guns.

It looks like a "kongsberg colt" I may be wrong but start by googling that and find out what you have. If legit some go for big money. But there have been quite a few fakes. So do some research and find out what it is first.

Thanks for the quick responce, it's been offered to me at the price of $400 USD. I was debating if the price was worth it, or if I should invest in a new pistol.

If it is in the US, and you don't want it at that price, send me a private message! Will probably sprain my wrist reaching for a checkbook.

It apprears that I can be very confidante in making the $400 investment into this handgun from your responce. I appreciate the information, and look forward to becoming a part of this community.
