Back in the day when ultralights were becoming a rage, their "pilots" were notorious for not knowing what they were doing. No radios, no training to speak of, and who cares if there is anyone on final.. I'll just taxi out and take off.

Decathalon did it to me, jumped right infront of me off the 45, then does a 360 on final and practically chewed my tail off. Rearward vis in a Warrior aint the best and I was kinda focused on the runway and crosswind at that point, so I landed. Go to turn off the active and see'm about 200 yards away 5' off the ground comming right at me. I seriously wish I had a Barrett at that point, all I could do was firewall it and practically scrape the wing turning off the runway to get outta that nutjob's way. He went by too fast for me to catch his N#, but I felt like stealing the Mustang and putting 6 50 cals to use lol.

Had some guy in an ultralight take the runway as I was on 1/4 to 1/2 mile final.

A really wacky one was when I was doing pattern work at an airport in Florida. The tower keeps telling someone in a Tomahawk, "You're #3 behind the Warrior" (I was in the Warrior). Tower keeps getting more and more adamant. I keep searching for this guy and can't see him anywhere. I finally leaned forward and looked up. Yep... he was 100 feet above me.

A really fun episode was when I was doing some approaches with my instructor. The Thunderbirds were in town and it was the press day before the show. We hear over the radio that one is heading to the airport for a photo pass. We landed, got off the active and stopped on the taxi way. Jumped out of the plane just in time for #6 to do a knife-edge pass right in front of us and past the tower. If I had only had my camera.
