Hey guys I've had this gun for along time it was my great uncles who was a local lawyer here. Story has it he carried it in court daily in a shoulder holster. And he once shot a man in the leg that attacked him in court. Just wondering if anyone knew anything about this gun. I think it's a type two but I'm not sure. Any help would be great. The cylinder has some wear and when u pull the hammer back u have too turn the cylinder to lock in in 3 of the 5 positions I would like to get this shot able. Just to have it fixed. When I got it it had a shell stuck in it for about 25 years I had to remove.

.30 caliber Remington-smoot No. 1 revolver

The one you have is a Remington -Smoot No. 1 Revolver .30 caliber spur trigger revolver with a 2.75" octagonal barrel and 5 shot fluted cylinder.
The barrel is marked "E" Remington & Sons,Illion, N.Y. Pat. W.S. Smoot Oct 21 1873. Examples dating from the beginning of production are found with a revolving recoil shield. Such examples would command approximately a 300 percent premium over the values listed. V.G. 1650 Good 1100 fair 675 poor 250.....The smoot number 2 is a .32 caliber made between 1878 and 1888 approximately 20,000 were made. Add 50 percent premium for blued finish................................I have fun restoring old guns like these. They're easy to work on and the parts are hard to find, but they're out there. I shoot mine when I get lucky enough to find ammo. I have 23 old guns I've restored in the winter when it's to cold to get outside. Sorry, but I'm not a gunsmith and don't work on other people's guns, but I might be interrested in buying it from you.

Thanks chew i said 25 but I should of said 32 rim fire. I'm just wondering a value of it I just keep it in the safe and am not looking to sell it just wondering the value. Of this one and if anyone knows off anyone who could repair the cylinder if needed. I would love to shoot this thing one day. The rifling is a little dirty looking but cleaned up ok for 30 + years of sitting in a shoe box in the bottom of a closet in a leather holster.

Here is where I think the problem is in the wear in the cylinder spurs I woul like to see if they could be built up and filed down to be shootable again.
