I built a Norinco into a 45 super over a decade ago for a back back gun while hunting. Only have about 2,500 rounds through it but it shows no signs of stress and seems to be holding up well. It still shoots great.
The steel was actually pretty good to work with in the accurizing process. Didn't seem grainy or soft. The original machining work though was OMG awfulness!
