Nightstand gun
Most of us have something that resides on the nightstand for things that might go bump in the night. So the question is - revolver or semi-auto?
Mine is a S&W 686+ .357 with night sights. I've owned it longer than any of my other guns. The reason it resides where it does is the pure simplicity...

I keep an XD45 in the nightstand with a Surefire weaponlight and night sights.
Night sights, too? If I'm in a situation where I don't want the flashlight giving away my position.

The hell do you get off owning a weapon with Night Sights?!?!?
I thought we discussed this and you were booted off Night Sight Island.
I have a 5" Nighthawk with NIGHT SIGHTS and a whole mag full of really menacing 230gr hollow point bad boys looking to make life ugly downrange.

H&K P2000 in .40S&W with a Streamlight laser/light Combo and 2 loaded mags next to it. Wife has a P2000SK also in 40S&W with two more loaded mags and a SureFire EL2 light in her nightstand. Daughter has a Kahr K9 and a SureFire LED Nitrolon.

I prefer a revolver for my nightstand gun, but right now I'm using a CZ82. I like a revolver for the nightstand, but right now I don't have a revolver that's a handy size. (nothing over 4 inches for ease of use) I don't want to fumble around as I come out of a possibly deep sleep and I just want to point and click. (a 6" GP100 just seems unwieldy for the circumstances)
However, on my wife's side is a S&W model 60.

Had night sights on it when I traded for it - you don't see many revolvers with them. In fact, it's the only pistol I own with night sights. Recently put a TLR-2 on my XD .45 Compact and it generally resides on my desk next to the computer...

My Colt is in the nightstand, 7 in the mag, one in the pipe thumb safety on and ready to fight.
My rational is that if awoken from a sound sleep I want to be able to access the weapon easily and be completely familiar with its operation. That is what the 1911 .45 gives me.
