Give a serious thought to XS sight systems and their "Big Dot" sight. It is a trinium center surrounded by a white circle and the rear is a simple white line. When you get used to it, it is fast. Following the diretions it is possible to keep all rounds on a critical mass type target at 45+ yds. Did it this A.M.; it works really well.

Just found out that the Gen 2 Girsans have Novak dovetail sights on them from factory. Should have waited a little while longer and could have avoided this hassle lol And by the way i posted an update on this whole dilema in 1911 forums "UPDATE on Girsan Night Sights"

I got sick of waiting around my LGS for the Smith to find a workable alternative to my sight system for the Girsan MC1911S. I was hitting 4-5" low at 15 yards consistently. That front post is WAY too tall. So, I shaved it down about 2mm and now Im hitting perfect groups. Hey for a $380 gun I cant complain. If I wanted a top quality 1911 gun I would invest at least $800.

Next is the Ruger SR1911
