To me being in the wild feels more natural than being in any city.

You should come out our way some time. The Adirondack Mountains are gorgeous. Plenty of fishing and hunting. Might even snag the occasional Moose.

C'mon out sometime....Adirondack State Park is the bigger than yellowstone, yosemite and grand canyon parks combined. Remington's Ilion plant, and Ithaca are here....baseball hall of fame. 3 mountain ranges, best lakes around, Buffalo Bills (The only REAL NY team) Syracuse (GO Orange!) and don't forget the Statue of Liberty and Ground Zero

It ain't like we're California or anything

I grew up in Queens and now live upstate, near Lake George. New York's an awsome place to live minus the liberal infestation problem. NYC should be taken to the Supreme Court for their blatent disreguard of the Second Ammendment. Not sure if a lot of you out there know, but NYC actually has a specific list of banned long guns. Basically anything black and evil looking. So no AR's, no AK's, no M1A's, no mags bigger than 10 rounds anywhere in the state. Plus, if you manage to get a pistol permit anywhere else in NY it's good everywhere except the 5 boroughs. Totally rediculous. As for NYC food, yeah, that's about the only thing I miss. The women may be good looking, but they're nothing but a bunch of arrogent, stuck up, high maintenance bio*ches. I'll take a chick from upstate any day. I'm sure much of the rest of the country's the same way. The Adirondak region is beautiful, but I gotta vote with my feet and get the hell outta the Northeast entirely. Flagstaff sounds nice, not a big fan of the heat. I'd do it tomorrow if I had the cash and a job waiting for me. So yeah, NEW YORK SUCKS THE BIG ONE!

Buddy you nailed it....I go to school in Missouri...I get varied reactions when I tell people I'm from New York...Truth is, most of the people in the state are just like everyone else in the country....I grew up in a town full of cow farms and apple orchards..

Follks round there go to church and like country music and are nice as all hell.

Like many states, New York has several countries within it. Here are the three I lived in:

Suburban. (Ozone Park) This is where I grew up and lived for 22 years;

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=adirondack+mountains& oq=Adirondack+Mountains&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_nf=1& gs_l=img.1.0.0l10.29733.35330.0.37719.11.11.0.6.6. 0.105.515.0j5.5.0.4ClO5S9vsfE&pbx=1&biw=1024&bih=5 41&cad=b&cad=cbv&sei=fH-TT4nLLqaa6QGkwrzBBA#hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=ozone+pa rk+queens&oq=Ozone+Park+Queens&aq=0&aqi=g1g-m1g-S3g-mS5&aql=&gs_nf=1&gs_l=img.1.0.0j0i5j0i24l3j0i5i24l 5.36321.43899.4.46199.11.11.0.0.0.0.111.1074.6j5.1 1.0.pYjcfLc27wQ&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf., cf.osb&fp=34065292cad86db6&biw=1024&bih=541

It had pastures, small farms and dirt roads when I was a small child. I used to play in the hay lofts at Judge Balsam's farms. Later my parents bought a house in ‘Balsam Village ‘. I remember when JFK was a Quonset hut called Idlewild. I saw Queens turn into Brooklyn. There’s a book here.

Urban. This is where I lived (West 23rd) & worked for 15 years;

https://www.google.com/search?hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=adirondack+mountains& oq=Adirondack+Mountains&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql=&gs_nf=1& gs_l=img.1.0.0l10.29733.35330.0.37719.11.11.0.6.6. 0.105.515.0j5.5.0.4ClO5S9vsfE&pbx=1&biw=1024&bih=5 41&cad=b&cad=cbv&sei=fH-TT4nLLqaa6QGkwrzBBA#hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=manhatte n&oq=manhatten&aq=f&aqi=g-s10&aql=&gs_nf=1&gs_l=img.3..0i10l10.4242.8482.0.9 462.9.9.0.2.2.0.142.805.1j6.7.0.1XYgRn3GDHk&pbx=1& bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=34065292cad8 6db6&biw=1024&bih=541

I wouldn’t trade the people I knew and the experiences I had there for anything. Maybe this is true for most. Another book.

Rural/Wild. (The Adirondacks) This is where I’ve lived for the past 22 years;

https://www.google.com/search?q=Adirondacks&hl=en&prmd=imvns&source=lnms& tbm=isch&ei=nX6TT8XhGcif6QHw0qGcBA&sa=X&oi=mode_li nk&ct=mode&cd=2&ved=0CCIQ_AUoAQ&biw=1024&bih=541&s ei=sX6TT6-HGYnv6AHFssD_Aw#hl=en&tbm=isch&sa=1&q=adirondack+m ountains&oq=Adirondack+Mountains&aq=0&aqi=g10&aql= &gs_nf=1&gs_l=img.1.0.0l10.29733.35330.0.37719.11. 11.0.6.6.0.105.515.0j5.5.0.4ClO5S9vsfE&pbx=1&bav=o n.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=34065292cad86db6& biw=1024&bih=541

The expression, “If you can ‘make it in NYC’, you can make it anywhere” is false. If one is even halfway competent in NYC, one will fall into work. The truth is it took more flexibility, ingenuity and industriousness to survive and prosper in the middle of the forest then in the city. I will say it’s better to be poor in a rural environment than in a city. Volume three?

So when people say NY sucks, you gotta ask, which one are they talking about?

Many times when I meet a new person here in MO and they find out I'm from NY, they will ask me what part of the city Bronx, Manhattan ext... Lol I just say I'm from a small town up state smaller the the one I live in now... They are even more confused when I tell them how great the hunting is. Not all are like this but most. Only a small part of NY is big city. If it were not for some of the laws I would move back.
