I use non amonia Windex to get thr cosmaline off then give it a good oiling to clean off the windex. Works every time

Cosmoline is a petroleum based rust preventative. Heat, like a heat gun, but not too crazy will soften it up, and brake cleaner will remove it. Remove the grips as the brake cleaner may hurt them. Soaking it will take care of most of it. WD-40 will help clean it up as well. Nice gun, by the way.

Alright 1911 guru's, i recently got my tan hogue wrap around grips and while looking around ive see some duracoated 1911 slides to match the grip, im leaning towards doing so.

I have contacted lauer(duracoat) and they offered to match the grip color at no extra cost since they have not yet mixed this color.

Just looking for some wiser input before i start tearing it apart
