DefaultNew Guy Needs help - First Pistol

Hi all,

I am new to this forum and need a little advice. I am looking to start my collection of with a .22 pistol.

I have been looking now for a while and have only found the following one that I like.

AWCAmphibianS

Have you guys heard about this conversion company before.
If you have any recommendations I would love to hear them.

I have shot one and it was great. I have never heard anything bad about AWC. Can you get such a gun in Australia?

I've never heard of them but that doesn't mean much. Have you looked at the Ruger Mark II or Mark III? Neither are surpressed, so if that is something you want it would be done by a gunsmith. I have a Mark II that is a lot of fun to shoot.

How are the gun laws in South Africa, is it pretty easy to own/buy firearms or is there a lot of red tape?

I also shoot a Mark II and love it. I know guys that are shooting the Browning Buck Mark with favorable results during competition. Both firearms would be fine choices, although, in my opinion the Ruger is a higher-end firearm.

I HIGHLY prefer the Ruger mk2 series and while the supressor is fun, I don't understand the reasoning of having 1 on an 1st handgun.
