On a local GA forum, folks are asking tons of questions about the S&W Sigma as Academy has them on sale and S&W has a rebate. We have Sigma fans here but I also see these as about the most common handguns listed for sale by owner. They are reliable - but they really have terrible triggers.

The two most common in your situation are Glocks & XDs - both will be fine it just depends on what fits you best...
If you get one send it to S & W and have them do a trigger job. I shot one that had the trigger worked on it shoots great. Also check in to the M & P 9 or 40.

No chance for a revolver?

I think you will get your money's worth from the range trip.

I have no problems with revolvers , expect that it doesn't carry enough ammo for my opinion , takes to long to reload and **** .

BTW looks like SW gives 50$ rebate or two free mags now ..

Google a video of Jerry Miculek. Practice has a lot to do with reloads.

This is the best advice anyone can give you. Get your hands on as many different pistols as possible and find the best fit for you. Now once you get narroweddown a little there might be a litle more people can say about specific weapons.

As stated a 9mm will be the least expensive to feed.

I am curious as to your thoughts on the SD9. I'll be waiting. I couldn't tell you what to buy, it is a decision you will have to make on your own.

Glock 19

Price: 500.00
9mm is cheap to shoot, will stop an attacker
Easily concealed (mine fits in my pants pocket)
Accurate, durable, yadda yadda yadda -insert Glock's numerous pro's here-
