Civil Disobedience-wherever there is authority, there is a natural inclination to disobedience. Oppression breeds Rebellion

They didn't give me any problems although all I had was a single pistol in a safe, no ammo. He had me open the safe looked in it, put a tag inside my bag stating there was a firearm in the safe and said you're good to go.

If all else fails, drive on to a ferry in Seattle or Bellingham, drive off in Alaska.

Quote:
Ferry travel
The Alaska ferries carry many passengers -- with or without vehicles -- between many cities and villages on the Gulf of Alaska and Inside Passage.

The ferry system, known officially as the Alaska Marine Highway System, also connects year-round with Prince Rupert, British Columbia, and Bellingham, Wash., an hour's drive north of Seattle.

A common journey has passengers boarding in Bellingham and going as far as Haines or Skagway, where they drive off the ferry and onto highways that connect with the Alaska Highway.

Worth investigating anyway.

Last I knew, AK gun laws were not restrictive. The hard part is avoiding Canada.
DO check with a Lawyer versed in firearms law before embarking on any trip with your firearms. Much will depend on how many firearms your moving. Just a couple? Simple. Large collection? It can get complicated or expensive, or both. NFA items? See your lawyer.

pwg,

I would highly not recommend going through the hassle of transporting your weapons through Canada! And especially the handguns. It is a legal hassle. When Canadian Law Enforcement Officers came to the states for training they used the agencies weapons here in the USA and bought ammunition here in the states to use for the training due to the hassle of even them bringing their duty weapons with them. You know! State Department and all!.BOOOO! Ship them through a dealer in Alaska. But arrange the cost with the dealer first for his services.
As stated Fed X or UPS!

You, personally can ship it UPS or FedEx. But it will cost you. Only an FFL can send it via UPS which is the cheapest way and that would be my suggestion.

Axxe, may I ask how old you are?
You seem to have a lot of opinions that are just way off target. I'm coming to the realization you are gonna get people jailed or killed. In just this one thread, for example: nothing you've written is realistic.

what is unrealistic about consulting with a lawyer in regards to making sure that he is in compliance with the law in regards to moving his firearms? seems as i wasn't the only one who suggested that. if anything i am trying to give information that would keep him from getting arrested or his firearms taken. where are my opinions off target? please clarify if you can!
