Media Depiction of Gun Owners

1 Attachment(s)
By now I am sure all of you know the gun owners won't have the mainstream media on our sides in this gun control issue. The media reports and commentary will be very slanted against us. The media will use anything they can against us. In the days ahead it would be wise for gun owners to give careful thought to what they say and do in a public forum. The media would like to cast a bad light on all of us and give as many people as possible a negative impression. There are sure to be many gun rallies around the country and the media will be there, mostly to look for something that can be used against us. Doing things like wearing camouflage and waving guns around or angrily shouting threats won't do our cause any favors. This battle can be won with our heads and we need the public on our side. The media would like to have the public think most of us are like the guys in the picture, and we need to show them different.

I totally agree with what you have to say here. Also there is no way those guys have that much camo and no AR's or AK's.

and just why are you posting my family reunion pictures here for?

but seriously, very good points and we do need to potray ourselves in the most positive way possible. after all the media has proven they are not the gun owners friend by any means.

Humm!! The media just seems to love the Black Panthers in their chick SS uniforms swinging night sticks and black jacks. They scream "White Devils should all be killed?
Gun rights groups will always be shown as bordering on KKK agendas. Tom Brokaw has called the NRA a racist organization. The media attacks go back 80 years to the FDR gun control days. Should we really beat up on our selves?

A major part of my wardrobe is camo of one type or another. I'll stay out the clock tower for a few more weeks but that's it!

Those guys look like a great bunch to hang out with!

I tried to go against the grain one day.
I wore my 3 piece pin stripe suit to the range.

It ended up in a mess. The Florida red clay still won't come out of the shoes, my tie got caught when changing mags, the vest hampered my shouldering the rifle correctly and I ended up with bruises on the shoulder, the jacket ripped down the back, the hot casings left holes in the pants.

Worse day in the life of a 3 piece suit.

I used my family reunion pics because I already had them and they were a very good example of what I was talking about. Standing from left to right is Cousin Zeke, Cousin Coy and Rufus, Cousin Maddie's latest husband or boyfriend. Kneeling is Uncle Clovis.

Maybe we need some people to go photograph the new media during their off hours pursuing their own activities. Then post the embarrassing pictures on you tube. Give them a taste of their own medicine. Catch one with a hooker or cheating on their spouse or "significant other". Maybe a drunk driving incident.

I like this idea and actually this tactic has been used before. I remember when the Reverend Jimmy Swaggert was in his heyday of popularity and was causing grief for a fellow evangelist by giving him a lot of negative press. The rival evangelist decided he had enough and hired a private detective to find something he could use against Swaggart. The PI discovered that Swaggart would meet with a couple of women at a certain motel on a regular basis. At one of those motel meetings the rival evangelist went there and let the air out of Swaggert's tires so he couldn't drive away. He then called every media outlet around and told them what was going on. The news stations started showing up with their cameras and microphones and got plenty of juicy material they could use against Swaggart.
