The Glock 23 has been my main CCW pistol for years. The 40 S&W has excellent ballistics and penetration. The ammo is easier to find in ammo shortages. It is the #1 police caliber in the United States.

I like the Ruger SR40, but I would stick with Glock since you alread own one in 9mm.
I have a G19 and a G22. They perform so much alike that I can practice all that I want with the cheap to shoot 9mm.
I will take both to the range and will usually burn through 100 to 200 rounds of 9mm, and finish off with two mags of 40s.

Glock Gen4 G27. Thousands of rounds, and it's never had a FTF, FTE, stovepipe etc..

I had to put my 2 cents in. I'm also a fan of the 40 in my Glock 22.

the op said he already had an HK p-30 in 9mm,,, hell i say sell it or keep it either way and do as i did and get the HK P-30 in .40s&w,,,, its my every day carry and i have owned, glock, XD, XDm, M&P, and even a hipoint in .40

since i got the HK P-30 one by one i was selling off the others due to the fact i never had an interest in them again,,, there is no better shooting .40 than the P-30,, its smooth as silk and nothing and i mean nothing fits the hand like the P-30 regardless of left or right hand

not to mention its ascetically pleasing too

Aside from being rubbish the .40 S&W is basically confined to north america whereas you can get 9mm anywhere in the world. There is a reason EVERY modern military has 9mm as the standard pistol caliber. One day when the military has established bases on the moon and mars and on large asteroids they will use 9mm as a standard sidearm its just the way it is .

This is not directed at anyone in particular. But There are so many 40s&w haters I swear if you don't like them ok but there's no need to talk about it when that wasent even the question. I don't pop in to every glock thread just to say I think they are crap but I do think that:rolls eyes

Who the heck made you an expert to say 40 S&W is rubbish? Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you have to talk bad about it. I don't like 9 mm but you won't hear me say something bad about it. Ballistics prove that 40 S&W has advantages over 9 mm. Oh, by the way, I hate Glocks too but I don't rag on them. We have a lot of 40 S&W lover's here so don't get us pist off or we may lead the Chase!
