i laughed when i saw another member state a 9mm wouldn't penetrate a windshield of a car and another member agree wit them, and said you needed at least a 40 S&W to get the job done.

i know for a fact that a 9mm will penetrate a car windshield and end up in the trunk area after having gone through the front and back seats.

hmmmmm......me thinks, some people should do some testing, before making such foolish statements.

This MAY have been true 30 years ago. Now 9mm is like good cheese. With age it has improved.

On 380 I only use XTP. The other HPs expand too quickly and dont penetrate enough. I would use hardball if I could not get XTP. I dont bother looking in stores for 380 and order it online.

They make it for 9MM, 357Mag., 45ACP, and I think they also have it in 40. Comes in a Red Box, where as most of their Handgun Ammo comes in a Blue box.

IMO, at the proper angle, it could deflect off a windshield, especially

if the vehicle were moving. But my point was there is more than

reasonable penetration, in most circumstances, given that I was

using standard target rounds.

I know 9MM Ball ammo will penetrate a Butterfly Clipimageuploadedbyfirearms-talk1396942982.520093.jpg
It was at the top of the Target and it drilled through the top(head) of the Target, the clip,..and I guess it smacked into the berm behind....this was at 20 Yds. Out of The SR9...next to it is a Federal American eagle 22 that blew up in my rifle,..double charge I guess...

I agree on the XTP 100% for the 380 class pistols. The bullet does expand, but not as much as Gold Dots or HST for example, so it retains good penetration. Gel tests of the XTP in 380 and 9mm Mak show it to be an excellent choice with penetration and expansion between 12" and 18" . I think in larger calibers, though, it will tend to overpenetrate , so I typically use Gold Dots or HST in 9mm, and 45 ACP. 12 to 18" consistent penetration is the goal with expansion for tissue damage, to avoid bouncing bullets all over the landscape. Currently my favorite ammo provider for SD ammo is Underwood Ammo.

I ordered a surplus FEG .32 auto a couple of moths ago for a $199.00. It's a PPK clone. I had to disassemble it to clean all the cosmoline off and put in a lighter trigger spring but it works great and a joy to shoot. Ammo is about $20.00 to $25.00 a box if you don't reload.

He didn't even get the angle right on the unsupported glass.
