A 22 LR from a 22" barrel drops 6" at 100 yards and the wind really pushes a 22 LR bullet. If they could do that with a 22/45 they would be smashing all olympic records. Don't believe everything you hear online. No one hanging out in an internet forum can out shoot every olympic shooter in the history of modern firearms.
Sorry to burst your bubble, John, but we're not all armchair quarterbacks. I used to shoot 9 of 10 soda cans at 100 yards with my Colt Challenger, routinely, & had witnesses to boot.

This at sound lame but- I'm a big fan of sa/da pistols. I'm a big fan of the walther ppks which comes in a 22. That and/or a 1911 style gun.

I can't even see a soda can at 100 yards.

The NEOS is a great .22. It the most accurate pistol I own. I highly recommend it!

My wife's gun. Little pricey for a 22 but it is an exact copy of a full size 1911, inside and out, and has never failed to fire.

IMO you can't beat a Ruger MarkIII. I own a 22/45 target model with a 5.5" bull barrel and target sights. It also came drilled and tapped for and along with the rail. I have the model with removable grip panels; very similar to the 1911 in grip and function. It shoots better than I can and thus far has been flawless through a 300 round diet of assorted ammo save for one light strike with Winchester white box.

Looks like several missed the OP's post that he purchased already. Asked, answered, done.
