I want to build a 1911 that will make me not wamt to shoot any other type. i know what enternal parts im hoing to use just havent decided on a slide and frame, looking for as full size with no rail. Any suggestions on what I should go with

Are you planing on fitting the slide to the frame yourself or have a gunsmith do it? I have heard most frames are over sized and must be fitted. I am just wondering because I have been thinking about building one myself.

I agree with Hoss.
The special tools needed, the knowledge needed, the experience needed is not for the faint of heart.
Although you won't save money, there is still the satisfaction of "I did it myself".
Check the frame and slide combos at www.brownells.com as a starting point. For most, you could buy a complete pistol for the price.
