Your horse has a rearview mirror AWESOME

Seriously though, mine is probably 40 yards. Why shoot at anything further? If you are beyond 40 yards, you are not a threat of mine

Hit the 200 meter steel ram they use for metalic silhuette competition with my Wilson Combat .45 just to prove it could be done. First shot was a puff of dirt on the berm behind it, a small adjustment brought a very satisfying clang...

Well hell Wambli, anyone could hit a steel ram that was 200 meters big, why that's just huge.

175 yards at a 6" circle pained on a sheet of drywall, with a Taurus PT92 AFS.

Shot was dead center, 3" below the circle.

100 yards with my USP, no trouble hitting a silouhette steel.
Pepsi cans at 100 with my old Ruger GP100 6".
12 oz water bottle @ 100 with my Ruger Blackhawk .41 mag.

The last two are pretty damned hard considering the target is smaller than the front sight.

Why do you feel it necessary to list your guns?

My best was an 6x8 steel plate @100 yd. TC Contender 45-70, with a scope. Don't shoot past 25 yds. with iron sights.

I keep my targets 25yards or closer anything further I'll use a rifle.
As I said in another post.
Quote:
If a person is shooting at me or random people, and my concealed carry piece is not an AR; I don't want to run up on them to 10 yards before I shoot. That is why I find out what the greatest range of each of my weapons, and practice at those and closer ranges.

There are thousands of scenarios that may require ones shooting abilities to include longer range shooting for saving life and limb and it is prudent to be prepared for them.

Besides, I feel like I am wasting ammo if I shoot a rifle other than a 22 closer than 300 yards... other than load development of course. I consider 100 yards short range.

And as another said,

Granted the handguns I take in the woods are .44 mags or .357 mags, not pistols, but I still like the idea of practicing from different ranges.

Put 3 in a 4'X2' carboard box with a P90 using 230gr american eagle .45 acp. 1:45 pm, no wind, 68 degrees, low humidity, just ate a wendy's baconator, Todd saw it.
