Since there was a longest shot thread in the General Rifle Discussion area, I figured a longest handgun shot would be interesting.

Mine is a

I tried 300 the next day but couldn't hit it.

Longest aimed shot: 318 yds. (laser ranged) with a 1913 era 5" Colt
New Service in 38-40. Target was a 12x16 steel plate. I could hit it
4 out of 6 on a good day. Aiming point was a tree limb above and a little
left of the target.

Longest shot: Little (maybe 12") piece of tree stump. Range at least
800 yds. Gun was a 6" High Standard H-D Military .22. There was a
big dirt hillside across a canyon. Little chunk of wood in the middle of it.
I could see the bullet strikes and walked them in. No aiming point---
the darned clouds were moving. Just a braced shooting position and watch
the hits. Surprising how tight the "group" was when I found the range.

Good grief why????

I saw them shoot a baloon with a .38 snubbie at 200 yards on impossible shots the other night.

I keep my targets 25yards or closer anything further I'll use a rifle.

100yrds, 8x10 steel plate, prone position, glock 22, hit it on my second try. Happy has hell. But I agree, if I want to hit a target that far I go with my rifle. It is a cool thing to try to shot that far with a pistol.

8" target at 100 yards w/ a Model 19-4 S&W .357. 6" barrel. Still my favorite wheelgun. I hunt w/ it also. A 158gr JSP over a little 296 is great on whitetail at 50 yards.

Well sure...with a 19. Try it with a 26.

50 yard 6" steel plate with glock 21. First shot on and farley consistent with others. I have not attempted any further. 50 yards is an acceptable distance to still shot a armed person.

I can't belive you would claim that. I can make a single hole at 2600 yards with a full mag from a glock 26.
