My old man has a XP-100. They are insanely accurate and come from the factory with a 1.5lbs trigger. 100 yard shots are easy.
I inherited a DW 15 -2 from a navy fleet pistol champion. 100 yard shots were easy for him. For me I was looking for a rifle to make a 100 yard shot. What really made me mad is he could make the same shots with my pistol.

Hell John it sounds like he was "mess'in" with your sights. Never trust a pistol shooter.

Thompson Contender. I have one with a couple different barrels. One is a 7-30 Waters. That is a 30-30 case that is necked down to 7mm. The shoulder is pushed forward by fire forming. It is really accurate at 100 yards. I have not shot it past that. But I am thinking it will shoot 2 inch groups from a sand bag at 100 yards. I imagine it would easily take a deer at that distance. It is a 14 inch barrel.

I second the FN 5.7x28, it's basically a mini rifle round.

The XP-100 is a very accurate long range pistol, but don't discount the TC Contender or Encore.

This is a five shot group from 75 yards with my Contender with a scoped 14 inch .223 barrel.

You will have a hard time beating a TC Contender for the long range shooting. They well priced and have a great deal of barrel length and cal options.

Could always go a BFR 10" in .30-30 or .45-70 too

If it is just grins and giggles you are after you can have fun with your .22lr. We are always plinking away with something at the 100 yard mark. With red dots we can hit the eight inch steel plate pretty regular and I have been messing with my Ruger MK III Hunter topped with a Burris 4x scope. I am not a serious shooter and gins and giggles is a big part of my range fun. With a 50 yard zero you are going to have around a five inch drop at 100 yards.

The Big pistols with scopes firing rifle rounds are really just a legal SBR. A handgun firing a straight walled cartridge using conventional sights provide a special challenge. Handguns as a defensive and offensive weapon is primarily an American tactic. This started with the Texas Rangers and became a tool of mounted troops and foot soldiers.

The Contender/Encore are also excellent long range pistols, but you're given the option of shooting calibers designed for rifles.

The XP-100 was really the "original" long range pistol.

.221 Fireball at 3000+ fps from a pistol!
