I've read enough threads and done some calculations, to say that a 45 acp has knockdown power similar to an 80 mph fastball... which isn't that much "knockdown power". Knockdown power is generally a myth.

The new way to think about it though is "for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction". If you fire a weapon that knocks you back on your butt, then yes, that probably has some real "knockdown power". But that's going to be something like an elephant gun, that is hard to manhandle the kickback.

Just thought I'd share. Knockdown power makes more sense to me thinking about it that way. Cheers!
Except that 80mph is going 117 FPS. Giving it a power factor or 257,000+

230gr X 850fps= 195,500 power factor.

Im going to load a minor league pitcher in my holster, since that ****s way more better than a boolit.

I have never seen a baseball pitcher fly backwards off the mound when he throws the ball.

That's all. I'm moving along now.

Using 850 fps is lower end cheap target ammo. They also make 230 grain +P ammo that can get as high as 1200 fps. You can get a wide variety of different velocities for 45acp.

Using the higher end stuff, you can say 45 acp wouldn't have any more knockdown power than an 80mph fastball, but if we're talking target ammo, then it's closer to 60 mph fastball.

... And your last comment about putting a baseball in your holster was meant to be funny, but we're only talking about knockdown power, not penetration, or which one is more deadly, or even which one is better... Just approximately the same (and very insignificant) knockdown power of a bullit or baseball.
