I wind up at a closed range with timid women a lot.

Start them out on 22s, if it's going to take, soon they will

want to experiment with larger calibers. Be sure to warn them

when a gun has a lot of recoil, and let them decide.

It took a lot to get my GF to go shooting, because,

45 years ago, some

boorish prick thought it was funny to knock her over

with a double barrel 12 gauge and magnum loads, then

laugh at her, as she lay bleeding on the ground...

Sounds like an outstanding individual.

Well, I hear a lot about "anti-gunners". She's hated guns ever since,

and it took a lot of begging and pleading to get her to even try

shooting again.

WE ALL have to remember we are ambassadors for our cause,

and a few moments of insensitivity can make us into our own worst

enemies.

I had an epiphany as I was bringing my GF around; how many

households are divided the same way mine was, and for much the same

reason? This "recoil surprise" "joke" gives a few seconds of mirth to few,

and creates a lifetime of gun hate for many...

1k, good work!! I took my wife out shooting and she to was scared. We went out in the middle of nowhere and I set up water jugs and other such things for her to try and shoot at, versus just a paper target. She now carrys daily. Obviously with her permit. I think if you start her out with a small caliber and work up from there and and let her shoot different objects and make it fun and safe she I think will become around. Let us know how she does.
