Oh sweet. I guess I don't have to carry when hiking up here.

I have a few H&K's, and they are among the Great guns I have, I like that they can operate in single action such as 1911 as well as DA/SA. They also have a recoil attenuation system built into them. So unless you can't deal with a sort of shove of a kick, and are new to shooting stay away and start with a quality .22lr.

By almost all accounts, USPs are excellent firearms. They're also very spendy. Personally, they're not something that I would consider a great "value"...at least for my preferences.

But it you've fondled one a bit and are truly enamored, what the heck?

With that said, it might be worth at least exploring a Sig P220. You could get ahold of a P220 in 22lr, add the 45acp acp conversion top end (Sig X-Change kit), and have it all in a tight package for $900 or so.

Don't see anything about "spendy", or being sensitive to the recoil of a .45ACP. Like I said in my previous post, the H&K USP has a recoil reducing system. It makes the recoil feel more like a mushy shove than the sharper kick you'd feel from others, especially revolvers. I also mentioned that the H&K can be carried SA, such as a 1911 type or DA/SA like a Sig.
Sweeper, Whats a lot of money to you, may not be a big deal to others.

When a guy is asking if ammo will be too expensive, cost is figuring into the equation at least to some extent.

I don't think that $800 (or $2800 for that matter) is too much to spend on a firearm. But like I specifically spelled out, for my preferences an HK wouldn't be a great value. A Sig P220 might be. For my preferences, a $600 Glock wouldn't be a great purchase. A $400 Glock might be.

Just my own preferences. "Value" is more about one's priorities than the weight of his wallet. Sorry I wasn't clear enough.

Love the USP that I have. Don't really shoot it a whole lot, but it goes bang evertime. Has great balance. To ME, I feel it is a bit large to easily conceal, however it can be done. But being Wisconsin and you can carry openly AND NOT CONCEALED it won't be a big deal. (after you turn 21) then you should be good to go.

When did they go to legal concealed without a permit?
