I need your help, pick a revolver for my boss

My boss is a truly great man. He is aging and has limited hand strength. I am teaching him to shoot and someone sold him (gun shop) a S&W .40 pistol.

He can not rack the slide, takes much effort and several tries.

I told him it is time for a revolver. Money is not an issue, he is well off there. He wants Crimson Trace Laser Grips also. NOT a snubby, A good 4 inch barrel is fine, it is for his home protection for him and his wife.

I want good stopping power but remember his hand strength is not as it once was.

Full handle to grip
Good stopping power
6 rounds minimum, I know some have 7

Please let me know what you think. I have little knowlege of revolvers.

Whatever he gets I will take him to the range and have him shoot it until a comfort level and acceptable competency is achieved.

Thanks...

Perhaps you need to look at the Ruger GP-100 and S&W 686. They are both full sized and weigh around 40 oz. If he has very large hands, he could consider the S&W 627 Pro. All these are .357s and will require a careful choice in ammo to get enough power without too much recoil.

Take a look at these:

Ruger GP-100 357 Mag 4in, SS w/Hogue Monogrip for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $500.00

Ruger GP-100 6" Satin Stainless .357 Mag w/Hogue Monogrip for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $500.00

S&W M327 357 5" AS Perf Center for Sale at Buds Gun Shop $975.00

I like that last one, the S&W with an 8 round wheel... and I think the finger grips will help him hang on to it. I will have to see if the CT laser grips are similar.

Is this an N, K, Or L frame?

Can't go wrong with the rugers or the smiths like Cane suggested.

Frame types, I'm not sure.

Another question.

Can the said S&W .357 shoot .38 special also?

Every day! .357 Mag revolvers will chamber all of the .38 special loads from target ammo right on up to the +P JHP.

Have him start with some target .38 special until he has the whole "new gun" down pat. Have him shoot at minimum 200 .38 rounds (not at one shooting unless hes up to it.) to get him comfortable. Then step him up to the .357 Mag.
