as with any firearm, the best safety feature is you. all the safety features in the world, won't help if the person doesn't respect and handle a firearm safely.

another suggestion i would make is to enroll in some type of firearms safety course. lots of good information can be learned in those classes.

still a good suggestion for him to check out though.

CT i haven't made a decision yet. I have shot the M9 as well as a Glock 40. Both guns were very comfortable. I never shot the Beretta Storm but that also seemed pretty comfortable. I would say more comfortable than the M9. The only reason i mentioned or thought of the Sig was because of internet rating and reviews.

No harm no foul. Your opinion is respected. You brought up very valid points. I take my big paws for granted sometimes.

Sig makes a fine pistol. well made and well thought of. not cheap by any means, but they are a quality pistol. and if that were the choice you made, and it fits you, it would serve you well for many, many years.

aside from safety and durability of the gun. i just don't want to go to the range and feel that i got ripped off and/or laughed at by my Playschool's My First Gun. lol i am trying to avoid the comment "how cute" when im at the range. Lol.

completely understand. when you spend your money, it's best to spend it on something that works for you and will be around for a long time and serve you well for many years.

if you find something that really calls out to you and you really like it, and it costs more, then save up and get what pleases you and makes you happy, rather than settling for just what you can afford with $600. there isn't anything worse than buyers remorse. BTDT too many times in the past. once i set my mind to what i want now, i don't settle for less.
