MOSSY with 18.5 in barrel is my first choice for home defense as well. Short enough to swing around in hallways/doorways, confident i will hit my target, and dont have to worry that a missed shot may go thru my wall, and into a neighbors house (even more of a concern if you live in an apartment) Plus i go through 3 boxes of shells every thurs night at the trap range, so a shotgun is just what i am most comfortable with

How about a S-12 8" SBS with a folding stock with a MD-20rd drum?

Lots of options and opinions here. Having owned many if not most of what has been offered, I have gone almost exclusively to carrying a full sized 5" 1911. Eight shot mag with one in the pipe gets you pretty close to 10 rounds. A 45 ACP 230gr +P Winchester SXT Talon will stop anything on two legs short of a silverback gorilla and maybe even him. That pistol was designed to "FIGHT" plain and simple. There are numerous manufacturers of fine 1911's and since you can only own one, cost shouldn't hold you back. And light rails are just another toy to me if you are fighting for your life. Tritium sights and a fighting mentality will get you where you need to be on a dark night at the distances you are going to encounter. The rest is good for table talk and chest beating. Your life, and your families, is at risk and you will have to get into the fight. That is the real issue. You won't have a problem seeing the target and if you want to light them up to make sure it isn't someone you love, you are probably already in trouble.

I like the 30 because it has a light rail, good power with a 45 acp, and plenty of firepower with 9 rounds,

It is also small and compact for a 45.

I was thinking about the 27 but no light rail makes me nervous in the home.

357 is a hell of a gun, but something of a white elephant, if it's small enough to carry, it is usually hard to control. If it is full sized and good to fire, hard to carry.

So any ideas?
ANY IDEAS??

Here's one: MOVE TO A GUN-TOLERANT STATE,

AND SPEND ALL YOUR MONEY THERE.

While I prefer 1911A1s, and Beretta92s, I'd say try many, before

you decide which one to buy...

Either a 357 or a 44 mag. That is if its one gun for everything.

The entire state isn't anti-gun. Mostly it's just the city.

Yea there are silly restrictions on what they consider an "assault rifle"

But around Niagara Falls where I am from, I can walk right in and get a long gun with just my ID. Need a permit at 21 for a handgun and a CCW license is seperate...and they take AWHILE to process..
