I gave $512 for my G19 last month, the cheapest ive seen new is 490 on the 19. I saw some of the .45 models awhile back (i forget the designation) for quite a bit cheaper but I forget the exact number. I keep thinking it was $379 but I'm not sure.

I think that alone might have me shopping for a different model. One of the joys of a full-sized 9mm is the 15-20rd capacity. I'd probably look hard at a 1911 or Sig P220...not that I'm suggesting you should.

If 10 round mags were the only thing I could have, i can guarantee I wouldn't own a 9mm and likely wouldn't own anything less than a .45. Capacity is the only reason I bought mine in 9mm. I went out and bought a 33 round mag the next day.

Honestly, it's pretty close to double the price. But you only need to shoot 'em once.

In all seriousness, people say 9mm is a better starter gun than .45 but my first handgun was a .45 as was my second. My third was a .40 and I just got my 1st 9mm last month. I still prefer the .45 over the nine tremendously, but wanted something with a higher round count. Get what you are comfortable with, if you feel that the price of .45s is too prohibitive, go with the 9mm. If you are dead set on Glock, you could always pick up a 22 (.40) and buy a 9mm conversion barrel.

If it were me and its not, I'd look at some 1911s in full and officers sizes. Not telling you what to do, just a suggestion. I own a Glock and love it, if you so choose to go with a 17, you wont be disappointed. But you could get a lot more punch from 8-10 .45s.

I understand the stopping power of a .45 over a 9mm but if its going to be pretty much a gun thats used at the range I think the 9mm should be ok and cost less to shoot
