Default How much ammo do you keep onhand ?

I didn't see a general Gun forum that would include rifles and handguns so I'll ask this here and in the fifle forum....

I keep a couple hundred rounds of three different types of ammo.

Am I an ammo horder? Does that seem excessive?

What's your ammo stock look like ?

It's only hording if you keep a couple of hundred rounds on hand for each gun, and you have a couple of hundred guns.

I'm about where you are on ammo. I generally keep a couple hundred rounds on hand for most of my guns, and a few extra rounds for a couple of my guns.

Not enough. I have about 100 rounds for each of guns save for .22, I have about 1000 rounds of that since it's so cheap. I would like to have more on hand for certain guns.

I've probably got 20K rounds.

About a third of it is 22lr. I like to keep a few thousand each of 9mm, 223rem, and 45acp...and then 500 or so of the various other rounds that I shoot. Remembering the supply situation about 3 years ago has resulted in my steady accumilation over the past couple years.

BTW- The supply has been drying up in recent weeks. Retailers are blaming massive government purchasing of 9mm, 40sw, 45acp, 223, and 308.

I'm super low on ammo right now I have 120 rounds of 9mm and 100 rounds of .22 (need to go buy another 500 round box today because I have never been this low on .22) and only 10, 30-06 rounds.

Only the government and law enforcement should stock pile ammo.......

I am sticking with that story

I would say, I have approx 100 rounds of rifle, 50 rounds of revolver, 100 shotgun shells, and 500 rounds of 45ACP.

That's because 100 rounds of rifle will last me about 20 years.

50 rounds of revolver would last me about 10 years.

100 shotgun shells would last me forever; I virtually never shoot these.

And 500 rounds of 45ACP would last me about 50 years.

I don't shoot a lot.

The most important thing is to practice your draw with your H/D weapon 15 times per day with snapping caps in front of a mirror.

Its the same way with swordfencing and martial arts -- you need to practice in front of a mirror.

That tells you more about smoothness and stance than anything else you can do.

I normally only go to the range about once a year. If that.
