How much ammo do you keep at home?
I can't remember where I heard this, but someone told me you should have at least 1000 rounds of ammo at home for each type of handgun you own.
I have more than 3 handguns, but they are all either 380, 9mm, or .40. So, I have 1000 rounds (or more) of each. I wouldn't consider myself crazy, but I think the day may come when we'll rely more and more on ourselves for protection. As such, I don't ever intend to stop stocking up ... in fact, I'm working now on my '1000' rounds to be bonded JHP of each caliber. (Currently, most is just range ammo)
Thoughts? I know a guy who has a variety of AR-15, AK47 type rifles, and he must have at least 15,000 rounds in his basement.

I keep a few hundred rounds loaded per most used handgun and longun, but I reload, so I do have a substantial stockpile of components to load up thousands if required.

I have a friend who used to say that I never had to worry about my house burning down. If it caught fire the vacuum would put it out, because all of the ammo would blow it into outer space.

Fluctuates between 800-1,200 on average due to shooting.

How much.......
When you watch the news, and see whats going to happen when the System fails. My house isn't big enough to hold what I will need to kill millions of people who are out to steal my guns, ammo and food.......

Amen brother. I'm not exactly rich, but trying to put about $100/week into ammo (that doesn't include what I shoot). Guess one way of looking at the expense is that it's about as much as a car payment. (Too bad for my 12-year old, who might have to live with a new bike when he turns 16!)

Without ammo, a gun is an expensive club. How much is enough? IMHO it is having one round left when you die of old age.
