I've also heard of newer contacts that can be worn overnight without problems.
If be concerned with getting a laser to solve your problem. As most of us were taught "know your target and what's behind it." If you have trouble identifying them I would never feel comfortable pulling the trigger. Maybe a light laser combo.
I have this on my SR9 and it really makes me feel comfortable. Green laser stands out very nicely and the light has some umph to it.
I wore contact from the time I was about 12 until I was 26. I had Lasik done at 26. My vision went from wearing -3.75 contacts to 20/10 overnight. Now, it's been 7 years and I don't have 20/10 anymore, last I had it checked I had 20/30. (and granted, once you've had 20/10 it's like having been to the promised land and then being told you have to leave when it drops back to 20/20 or so) Is it worth it? You bet your ass it is. No contacts, no solutions, no glasses, no waking up in the middle of the night blind, none of that. In 1 day it changes your life for the better forever. I could go back and have them give me another correction to get back to 20/20, but it's like $500 to have another correction (being cheaper because when they cut your cornea to do the lasik, the flap they create is there forever. To have another procedure they don't have to cut again, they just reopen the old incision and zap) It's quite painless, and after having it done you'll wonder why you waited so long to do it.
As for the OP's question, I'd get a set of super cheap glasses just for the "in case of emergency" scenario. You may never wear them, but at least if hell froze over you'd have a backup.
