might try and see if there are some women's firearms safety courses, or one taught by a woman. sometimes, they can relate to another woman teaching them about firearms and get more comfortable with firearms that way.
if attempting yourself to teach her, remember to have lots of patience, especially when she makes a mistake. stay calm and explain what the mistake was and why not to do something a certain way. above all teach her the rules of safety first and foremost and why they are important for her safety as well as others.
and i agree with starting with a 22 as the first firearm. little recoil and most are usually easy to learn on for a beginner.

Some of the women in our group didn't want to go shooting or learn about guns from their boyfriends/husbands but seemed open minded about learning from other men or women in the group. So we split everyone up and got several women together to show them the different guns, rifles, shotguns, how to check them for safety, how to load them and unload them. Then we took them out to the range and let them try what they wanted to shoot, usually the .22 rifles and pistols. We had a female LEO that was a charm in helping the girls gain confidence and loose the "Evil Gun" fears that they had. It was a slow process and now we only have one girl that is still uneasy every time she sees a gun. She will go shooting with us and is a fair shot, she just has that reaction that someone is going to get killed every time she sees a gun.
So let someone you trust and she knows come into the fold and this may be the golden key you are looking for.

lol...the commentary is getting funny. Welp, Im married now so the gun doesnt get polished as often as it used to lol. But yeah she wont even come NEAR my pistols.

My ex would never let me have a gun in the house. It's nice to be married to someone that loves guns too.

Learn which new shoes wants the most...
Buy a pair of each...
Show her ALL of them...then lock them in the gun safe.
Sorta like private Pile not being able to scale the obstacle in Full Metal Jacket.
She just needs the proper motivation and I don't think faking a home invasion would be advisable.
