Just my 2 cents...Don't buy anything and let the Acadamy train you.
If you want to buy a pistol then buy one to your likeing.
But remember if you buy one and intend to use it as a back up you'll prolly have to qualify with it to, in order to be allowed to carry it. You might even check with other LEO's in the department your going to, to see what's allowed.
Also you'll want something comfortable to carry as a back up. Your tool belt will be loaded to the max and your life saveing vest will not be the most comfortable thing to wear.

I would ask the ones that have been do'in the job your go'in in to.

If you don't like Glocks you'll get over it because you'll do a LOT of qualifying during your time as an LEO.
