I would suggest everyone do it just to get a feel for it.

I do have a sewing awl. But it does not give the fine hole that the drill does. Perhaps Glass has a better one. I may need to look around.

No, what I ment was drill the holes with the drill but use the awl instead of a needle and plyers.

I use 2 needles and saddle stitch using waxed dental floss for thread. Rarely need a plier. Break a needle every now and again tho.

So. Just got back from a trip to Black Elk Leather, picked up 2 tools (Tandy, ironically) an edge slicker and a bone folder which on the end has a semi-circle with 3 different size grooves. Going to AIH tomorrow to find a mandrel to chuck that slicker wheel into a drill, then my edges are going to look GOOD. Thanks again Ms Glass.

Stuck a 1/4" bolt through center hole, snugged a nut against it, it works. Woot, woot!! The lovely Mrs Freefall is already sick of the sound of the drill.

Ask her if you can find something else to drill...just don't mention leather & her in the same breath...LOL

usually shuts 'em up about the noisy hobbies, at least for a day or two

Thanks for the advice. After 35 years of marriage I'd never have thought of that.

I have taken some time off from holster making. It was mainly because the nearest leather store is 250 miles away. We took a vacation to California a few weeks ago. I stopped by Tandy on the way. This is my latest holster. I feel like this is my masterpiece so far. It is amazing what you can do with an old fashioned shoe shine kit. I really like how well the holster molded to the gun. You can see the notch in the cylinder through the holster.
